Can You Tag Amazon Products on YouTube Shopping? What’s Actually Real in 2026

Quick answer: Yes, it is real, but it is not new and it is not for most of us yet. Google’s own YouTube Help Center confirms you can tag Amazon products inside YouTube Shopping if you are enrolled in the YouTube Partner Program, enrolled in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program (US only), and active in good standing in the Amazon Influencer Program or Amazon Associates Program, with your YouTube channel linked to that Amazon account. The catch: Amazon’s own support page says this is still limited to “a select group of creators,” and language about re-linking accounts from before September 2024 shows this has existed in some form for well over a year, quietly, not since this week. It is a different thing from the tag/ASIN field on Amazon’s own Influencer video upload page, which still works the same as always.

A post from creator @itsplanetjen on X got passed around this week claiming Amazon is now showing up inside YouTube Shopping’s product tagging. Worth checking before repeating it, so here is what we could actually confirm and what we could not.

What Google’s own help pages actually say

YouTube’s Help Center has a page titled, plainly, “Tag Amazon products with YouTube Shopping” (support.google.com, checked 2026-07-21). It is not vague. To tag Amazon products and earn commission, a creator needs all of the following:

  • Enrolled in the YouTube Partner Program
  • Enrolled in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program, currently U.S.-only
  • An active Amazon Influencer Program (AIP) or Amazon Associates Program (AAP) account in good standing
  • That YouTube channel linked to the AIP or AAP account

Linking happens from your Amazon Storefront: Edit profile, then Link your account, then verify the YouTube channel on screen. Once linked, the page says it can take a few days before you can actually start tagging. There is an auto-tagging option too, where YouTube reviews your recent uploads and tags eligible Amazon products for you going forward. Amazon even lists a support inbox for creator questions on this specifically: youtubeshopping@amazon.com.

Why this is not breaking news, even though it feels like it

Here is the detail that changes the story: the same help page tells anyone who linked their AIP or AAP account to YouTube before September 2024 that they need to re-link it. That only makes sense if the Amazon integration has existed in some working form since at least around then. So the honest framing is not “YouTube just turned Amazon on.” It is closer to “a real, official, fairly quiet feature that has existed for over a year, most creators still do not have it, and a viral post is why more people are hearing about it now.”

We could not find a dated blog.youtube announcement or an Amazon Associates Central post specifically unveiling this Amazon integration. It seems to have shipped as a support-page-only, limited-rollout feature rather than a headline launch, which tracks with Amazon’s own wording.

Do not confuse this with Amazon’s own onsite tagging

It is easy to mix this up with something that already exists and works fine: the ASIN/tag field on Amazon’s own Influencer video-upload page, which lets you tag products directly in a shoppable video hosted on Amazon itself. That is a completely separate system, unaffected by any of this. What the YouTube Help Center describes is different: your Amazon products showing up as tappable product tags natively inside a video hosted on YouTube, with the commission still running through your existing AIP or AAP account.

How this fits with the YouTube Shopping affiliate program you may already know about

The YouTube Shopping affiliate program itself is genuinely long-standing at this point, built mainly around a Shopify backbone since 2024, and it has gotten easier to join over time: the subscriber threshold dropped to 500 as of March 27, 2026 (official YouTube blog post, already covered on this site). None of that reporting mentioned Amazon by name. Amazon being a taggable retailer inside that same Shopping infrastructure is the separate, narrower piece this post is about, and it is the part still gated to a limited group.

What we could not confirm

We looked for independent creators actually describing hands-on access to the Amazon tagging feature specifically (not the general Shopify-based Shopping program) in the Amazon Influencer communities we watch and in general search. As of today we did not find that corroboration beyond Google’s own documentation and the general reporting the original claim was based on. That does not mean it is fake, the official support page settles that it is real, it means access still looks rare enough that most creators reading this will not see it on their own account yet, matching Amazon’s “select group” language exactly.

If you want to check your own eligibility

  • Confirm you are approved for the YouTube Partner Program and, separately, the YouTube Shopping affiliate program (Creator Hub, US accounts only for now)
  • Confirm your Amazon Influencer Program or Associates account is active and in good standing
  • Go to your Amazon Storefront, Edit profile, Link your account, and verify your YouTube channel, re-doing this even if you linked it years ago
  • Give it a few days, then check YouTube Studio’s product tagging tool for an Amazon option
  • If nothing shows up, that is expected for most accounts right now, not a sign anything is broken

Bottom line

The claim making the rounds is true in substance: Amazon products really can be tagged inside YouTube Shopping, confirmed on Google’s own help pages, not a rumor. But call it what it actually is: a real, existing, quietly-limited feature that predates this week by at least a year, not a new expansion Amazon or YouTube just announced. If you are in the Amazon Influencer Program and also active on YouTube, it is worth five minutes to check your linkage and eligibility. Just do not expect it to show up for most accounts yet, and do not repeat this as a brand-new launch, since the evidence points the other way.
